Every electrical work follows some basic safety instructions that are necessary to ensure they are completely considered during the electrical works. We summarize some of these steps for you to follow:

    • Always shut off the power before starting anything:  Whenever you want to change a light bulb or want to make sure the circuit is on or off, make sure the main power supply is shut down. It happens in a second if you don’t really notice the electrical safety. If you have to use a power tool in a place you want to repair use the battery-powered ones instead of using a plug extending from the main power supply.
    • Test your supply power: Even after shutting off the main power, you should make sure that there is no electricity surging through the room. For this purpose, you can switch on some lights or appliances to see if it works or not.
    • Invest in an RCD: residual current device or an RCD for short is a device that cuts off the power in event of an electrical faulty circuit. Residual current devices are typically installed in the fuse boxes. Older buildings that have conventional fuse boxes usually don’t have RCD with themselves, But the modern building most of the time has RCD’s. They cut the faulty circuit before it makes any problem in the fuse box. This also prevents fire hazards and damages to your appliances in the house.
    • Use a cable detector to detect faulty circuits: In some cases, when you are doing a house renovation or house rewiring project, you may some practical mistakes such as screwing in the wrong wall or hitting an electrical cable. These mistakes may lead you to a very dangerous situation. So before starting electrical works, make sure to use a cable detector and locate all of your cables behind the walls you wanted to work on. By using a cable detector, you are definitely saving yourself from any further electrical accident.
    • Inspect and repair old equipment regularly: All of the electrical devices and power tools have a plug and a lead. Most of the time these two parts get damaged. Checking appliances regularly can reduce the danger of old devices and also prevent you from further expenses. If you notice any signs of damage such as frayed wires, repair them before any kind of usage.
